Pienza and the fortresses in Val d’Orcia
The protagonist of this tour is the Val d’Orcia. We will guide you through its rolling hills and its coloured fields. We will start in San Quirico d’Orcia for a walk through its magnificent Italian-style garden, Horti Leonini, a typical example of the Renaissance architecture.
The next stop will be Rocca d’Orcia, a little hamlet that boasts the medieval fortress of Tentennano. From there you could enjoy an incredible view of the whole valley.
It is truly worth visiting Bagno Vignoni known for its thermal baths and its important role during past centuries. Here, in fact, is a recently restored ancient Mill, which represented the main centre of wheat grinding in Val d’Orcia. Bagno Vignoni is considered a “humanity hermitage of Unesco” because of its beautiful Roman tub in the middle of the main square.
The perfect end for this unforgettable tour is Pienza. Its lovely historical centre is dotted with small craft workshops and you will have the chance to taste and to buy many typical products.
